organized in 1919

Water Drop The Tariffville Water Commission (TWC) provides water to more than 500 buildings in the Village of Tariffville
in the Town of Simsbury, Connecticut. Over 1,300 people are served by this public utility, which has provided
clean, safe water to Tariffville residents for more than three quarters of a century.

SEVERE DROUGHT ADVISORY - From CT Dept. of Public Health, Drinking Water Section

This advisory was re-issued October 7, 2020 for all public water systems & private well owners.
All of the water supplied to the Village of Tariffville comes from our wells. They have been
heavily used this summer, and all residents must conserve water to ensure there is enough
for homes, businesses, Tariffville School and fire protection (for our excellent fire hydrant system).

CT Dept. of Public Health recommends:
  • Turn off sprinklers for the season. If you must water your lawn, do it only once weekly.
  • Postpone planting any planting: lawns or vegetation. If you must, use drought resistant varieties.
  • Avoid wasteful use of water such as rinsing sidewalks, driveways & patios.
  • Run dishwashers & washing machines only with full loads.
  • Don't leave faucet running when washing dishes, shaving, brushing teeth & washing hands.
  •     Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, properly wash hands (20 seconds) to avoid spreading the virus.
  • Take shorter showers. Aim for a 5-minute shower.
  • Don't power wash buildings or decks, or wash vehicles.
  • Fix any leaks you may find in your home or business.

Water Mains will be flushed in May

During the flushing and for a short time thereafter, slight discoloration of the water
may occur, and small particles of sand & rust may be in the water briefly.

The water is safe to use, and flushing is a necessary procedure, done by all water systems
to improve the quality of the water and ensure our fire hydrants are in good shape.

During flushing, some residents may notice a drop in water pressure. We recommend waiting
until flushing is done, each day, before running clothes washer & dish washer.

A good explanation about flushing water mains can be seen at:

Meetings as of April, 2020 will be done "virtually"
using ZOOM while the COVID-19 crisis continues
