Tariffville
Water Commission ~ Frequently Asked Questions About The Water |
Where does the water come from? Three gravel packed drilled wells supply all the water for Tariffville. They are located in Tariffville. While our wells are near the Farmington river, our water comes from an aquifer that is entirely separate from the river. Is our water treated? No, but it can be if needed. Frequent testing by a certified laboratory, in accordance with state of CT regulations, has shown that our water meets, and in most cases far exceeds, federal and state standards for drinking water. In the unlikely event that testing ever reveals the presence of bacteria, our system can provide chlorination, but this isn't done now and hasn't been done for years. No fluoride is added to our water. Is our water tested? Yes, in accordance with state of CT regulations. The safety and health of over 1,000 Tariffville residents depends on our water meeting standards for contaminants. See the CCR (Consumer Confidence Report) on the home page. Why is my water cloudy or colored? First, neither condition is unsafe or indicative of a problem. Cloudy water and colored water (often a brownish tint) often result from normal maintenance, flushing of fire hydrant(s), or Simsbury Fire Department activities (drills and fires). |
